GenNeXt Women

At our church we are trying to be intentional about reaching the Gen X and Y women. The obvious starting place is finding a grounded young leader with a heart for ministry (Go Becka!). While we do offer 'gatherings' just for this nitche - monthly coffee, discussion and general craziness with an occasional weekend away - we also try to draw them in to multi-generational things. We have several Bible studies led by Gen X women who intentionally invite their peers, but also are open to others who wish to attend. I think the blend is healthy for everyone involved.

What ideas or needs to you see to building into the lives of our "X" and "Y''s????

Re-inventing the "BOX"

I heard a speaker tonight saying that to be relevant in the mission of the church it is necessary for leaders to not only think outside of the box, but to re-invent the box. The contents remain the same - the centrality and authority of scripture, the call of all to the gospel of Christ, the foundations of the faith... but the box can be a thing of distinction; a shape, a color, a texture that calls us to open it and explore the riches of the content.

Hopefully in ministering to women we can move beyond the yearly tea or mother/daughter banquet to putting our energy into challenging one another to dig deep into the Word, to apply it in the nitty gritty realities of our lives and to break out of our comfort zones and into the hurting world around us.

Refreshing Women in the Word

This blog is about and for women who desire to build into the lives of other women through the Word of God. A sharing of ideas for those involved in 'Women's Ministries' in the local church.
